PLAY HARD - PLAY WELL - PLAY FAIR

About Us

The Squad Photo

The Under 14's age group trains every Sunday. At this stage of competitive rugby we aim to teach and develop the squad to play as a team, embrace the spirit of the game and most importantly have fun! We are playing to the new transitional rugby rules where the emphasis is on attacking space, offloading in contact.
We play against local clubs and enter a number of festivals and tournaments throughout the season.
We train on a Sunday morning from 10:00 AM until 12 noon (unless we have a match !). During our training sessions we combine structured drills with game based exercises. The structured drills focus on passing and tackling and techniques while game based exercises are aimed at improving reaction, decision making and team work.
We encourage team play and to a friendly competitive spirit - with naturally a chance for parents to then cheer on in support of their children.
We always welcome new squad members and are happy for your child to come along and give rugby a try! The squad members are representative of most of the schools in the area and it is likely your Year 8 child will already know somebody that plays.
If you are interested in coming along, or if you have any questions, please give the Team Manager a call. Details are below.

U14s v Alton - 2019-02-03

Today Andover U14 traveled to Alton to see who will be placed 3rd/4th in the County for next season.  In wet windy conditions the 1st half was a game of attrition with neither side taking a backward step and the score remained 0-0 at half time.  2nd half both sides came out trying to impose some dominance.  After numerous attacks, Alton started making inroads to the away teams 22 and after twice running the ball out the 3rd attack ended with a high kick deep into the 22 but it was caught well and the mark was called.

U12 - County Tournament - 12/03/2017

Andover Rugby Club U12's Sponsored by AVK The Power People went to the Hampshire County Tournament trying to go one better than last years beaten finalists.

Conditions were not great, first game drawing 1-1 with Havant. Next up was Trojans who managed to squeeze us out 2-1 after having in excess of 2 mins and extra playing time.  We went on to beat Gosport & Fareham and then Fordingbridge. This meant coming 2nd in the pool lining up a semi final with the old enermy, Winchester.  After no score in the 1st half and 2nd half, we went to extra time and sudden death. Two more halves were played again with no side able to cross the line and was to be decided by a coin toss. Not the way to win, but it set us up with a local derby final with Overton, where the boys came out 5-1 eventual winners and becoming - The Hampshire County Plate Final Winners.

U12 v Winchester - 29/01/2017

Today Andover U12's hosted Winchester.  Winchester turned up with two full squad's, their Emerging Squad and First Team.  After 45 minutes of excellent drills and games we switched to matches.

Andover played Winchester Emerging first and showed complete dominance, running in 7 unanswered tries.  This was just a prelude to the clash of Andover and Winchester A.  This was a much closer game, were Andover dominated defence, which disrupted Winchester's game plan.  Andover produced some lovely flowing rugby, to set up Lewis Williams for the first score of the match in the corner.  And at half time the score was 1-0.
