The Woodstock plumbing supplies sponsored u16s hosted Winchester in an eagerly awaited league match on Sunday ,
Both teams were missing players and so some reshuffling was required for both teams, Andover started brightly and dominated the early exchanges and scored when Jamie Sarginson crossed the line and also added the conversion to give the home side a 7-0 lead, this seemed to spark Winchester into life and they began to gain a foothold in the match which Andover struggled to contain at times, when Andover did get possession they were guilty of trying to force passes and offloads that should have been kept in hand, this allowed Winchester plenty of possession and territory which was only stopped by good Andover defence
Half time Andover 7 Winchester 0
Attacking down the slope the 2nd half carried on in the same manner as the first with both sides battling hard, however both sides made errors at crucial times which kept the score down, but with 10 minutes to go James Griffiths picked up from the base of a ruck to power over in the corner and with Jacob Culley-Wilson adding an excellent conversion from out wide Andover finally had some breathing space, with time running out a scrum on half way allowed Jamie Sarginson to sidestep his opposite number and out sprint the covering defence to score under the posts, adding the conversion made a final score of 21-0
Christopher Evans was Andovers man of the match in what was his last game for the club before he and his family move away, the U16s squad and coaching staff wish Chris all the best for the future.
