Andover U16s sponsored by Woodstock Plumbing Supplies got there league campaign off to the toughest task travelling away to current league champions Vectis.

Andover started brightly and applied some early pressure but couldn’t get any momentum as too many penalties were conceded, this led to the home side taking a 3-0 lead after 10 minutes, Andover dominated the set piece however more penalties against restricted any flow to the visitors play,

Andover were able to take the lead on 25 minutes when Austin Doherty intercepted a pass and outpaced the covering defence to score under the posts and with Sam Hamilton adding the extras Andover went into half time 3-7 up.

The 2nd half began with Andover conceding yet more penalties and meaning they were never able to get a foot hold in the match, and when a clearance kick was punished for offside Vectis scored from the resulting play to make it 10-7. Andover went back up the slope and soon added to their total with Alfie Appleton scoring in the corner to give Andover a 10-12 lead, however with the penalty count now into the 40s against Andover, hanging on to the lead was an impossible task and Vectis scored again to take the lead and the match.
