U16 v Vectis - 14/01/2017

Andover 25 – Vectis 14

The forecast for Sunday’s league match between Andover and Vectis may have been dull and wet, in reality, the amassed home supporters were treated to a polished performance by two well-matched top of the table teams. Stepping out onto the Goodship to put the record straight, the Woodstock Heating & Plumbing sponsored U16's started brightly and intelligent kicking pinned the away side back in their own half. A well-rehearsed catch and drive, led by the ever-aerial Ward, resulted in Griffiths diving over for the opening score. Andover spent the following 20 minutes deep in Vectis territory, but failing to convert pressure into points, a smart interception from the Vectis back line led to a length of the pitch try. The subsequent conversion created a score line of 5-7 in favour of the visitors, however a late first half penalty ensured Andover went into the interval leading by 1 point thanks to the boot of Sarginson.

HAMPSHIRE U17’S PLATE FINAL

Andover 20    Portsmouth 17

Newcotech sponsored Andover U17’s welcomed Portsmouth RFC to a sun blessed Hants County Plate final at the Goodship ground on Sunday. The home side elected to play against both the slope and blustery wind in the first half. A strong Portsmouth side soon put Andover under pressure, pinning them deep in their own half. For the next 20 minutes, Andover defended well and stopped Portsmouth just short of their try line several times.

Colts v Havant - 09/04/2017

Andover Colts v Havant Academy

Tier Two Final

Lost 43-17

After a good win v Totts in glorious conditions last weekend, Basepoint sponsored Andover travelled to Havant for the final.

Someone upstairs had turned the heat up a good few degrees from last weekend and in addition to the travelling players from Andover, numerous others were heading down south too. Those that headed to the coast instead of Havant, missed out on a thrilling match as both teams battled hard in the sweltering conditions.
