Andover U 15 34 Farnborough 15
UK media sponsored Andover U 15 turned in an impressive performance at Goodship Park last Sunday to dispose of a much fancied and dangerous Farnborough.
The visitors sported a huge pack and some willing runners in their backs, but they could not quite cope with the greater technique and powerful running of the Andover forwards and the devastating pace Andover possess in their backs.
Jake Meek, Charlie Rhodes and Callum Baber Starkey were all excellent carrying the ball, with Dean Smith and Sam Crofts excellent in support, but it was in the back row where Andover really impressed.
The sheer pressure exerted by Hamish Janaway and Bryn Waite stifled the opposition and CJ Fiern took full advantage with an outstanding display.
Skipper Sean Higgins and man of the match Rory Case revelled in the space and possession and also showed great maturity in their decision making, as Andover took control.
Myles Wakeham Ed Bilborough and Jake Harwood threatened throughout with some excellent and clever counter attacking with Harwood continuing his development in the new role of fullback.
Cameron Stacey again lead the try charge, with another splendid hat trick for the impressive winger who is now adding game knowledge to his outstanding pace.
Fiern also grabbed a try and there was a try too for Case, who also added a penalty and three conversions to complete the Andover scoring.
Andover rang the changes to give their whole squad a run and Farnborough fought back hard scoring three tries of their own, displaying just how good Andover had been in keeping them quiet earlier.
