Andover U13s, sponsored by Graham & Co, welcomed tourists Hereford U13s to a gloriously sunny Goodship Ground on Saturday. The match was a belter, with each team giving their all throughout the match. Andover opened the scoring after only 25 seconds after Mathew Leese caught the kick off, fed Ed Scobie who in turn released Max Romer-Lee who blazed a trail through the visitors defence to score and add the conversion. Andover scored again after 10 minutes when George Roscoe went over following some sustained Andover pressure. Hereford then scored a try when their outstanding player of the game speed half of the length of the pitch on the counter attack. However Charlie Nish replied for the home team with an intelligent pick and drive from a ruck close to the opponents try line.

The second half saw some adventurous play from both teams, mostly ended by some thumping tackles. Harvey North, Ed Scobie and Ashley Farr each made some crackers, as did a possessed Toby Redshaw when he was unleashed into the fray after a period out with a broken jaw. Hereford got back into the game in the second half, scoring their second converted try before Ryan Binnie scored from a line out, which had been set up by a cross field kick from Will Henshaw. With the game well into injury time, Hereford scored a final try despite some ferocious defence but were unable to overhaul Andover, who won by 22 points to 21

Max Romer-Lee was voted Andover's man of the match by the Hereford players and thanks to Shaun Flanagan for umpiring.
