Andover Rugby
Club is very proud to learn that one of their young Youth Academy players –
Kyno Rowe – has recently being selected to play for the Hampshire RFU U14’s
County squad.
The reason that
Kyno’s selection was out of the ordinary – both for the club and the Rowe
family – is that this makes it a ‘full set’ for Kyno, his two brothers and his
father John.
Back in 1989,
John was Andover’s first county player when he was part of the back row (No 6)
for the Hampshire team. Although no longer playing, John is still closely
involved with the club, and is usually found on most Sundays supporting one or
other of his sons at the clubs Goodship Ground.
Kyno’s eldest
brother – Niko, now 21 – played for Hampshire at U14’s, U15’s and U16’s. Niko
is currently undertaking a four year Sports Science degree at Bath University, and
now in his 3rd year, he is undertaking a work placement with
Gloucester RFC, involved in strength and conditioning with the 1st
XV as well as with Gloucester’s Academy.
Kyno’s other
brother – Taro (18) – has also played for Hampshire RFU, at U14’s, U15’s, U16’s
and U17’s and was also a member of the London Irish Silver group. ‘Taz’
currently plays at fly half for the Andover Colts and has recently been signed
up to play for Andover seniors.
Youth Academy
Chairman – Clive Redshaw – commented ‘this
must be a unique situation for a rugby club, insofar as not only have all the sons
played for Hampshire – which is no mean feat in itself – but Dad has played for
the county as well!! I know that everyone at Andover Rugby club is very proud
of the family’s success – and wouldn’t it be fantastic if, in a few years time,
we could get them all to play in the same team’
