Andover Ladies 7s Touch Team travelled down to Fordingbridge for their 2nd tournament of the season.
The side still rebuilding after the loss of 16 players from last season, were looking to improve on the 1 draw and 3 losses in their 1st tournament, in which they leaked 8 tries and their 3. Training had gone well, concentrating on defence and a few set piece moves with Coach Carl Borg-Neal hoping their hard work would pay dividends on the day.
Andover RFU Ladies 7’s Touch team visited Aldershot & Fleet at the weekend, for their long awaited first tournament of the season.
The young and inexperienced side consisting of 3 under 18’s, 2 of which were amongst 4 of the 9 in the squad playing in their 1st tournament, as the team rebuilds after losing 10 of last season’s squad to injury, retirement or other reasons.
The Fallows took to the field with a mixture of experienced and new team members.
They had their first game against Fareham and although defended well and with Vicki scoring came away from the game losing 2-1
Andover RFC Ladies team began the season this weekend with a strong double side for the Hampshire Touch Rugby Series.
The two teams the Roes and Fallows played six games during the day including against newcomers Fleet and Aldershot. Aga Tyszewicz and Lisa Wood scored tries in the Fallows’ first game against the new side, demonstrating their summer training and skill development. Aga then scored a further try against Fareham Hags with a chance on the wing to use her speed.
Andover RFC Ladies kept up the pressure on top side Fordingbridge with a battling performance in round seven of the touch rugby series held at Fareham last weekend.
Andover cemented their second place position and finished the day unbeaten after recording two wins and two draws in a very close and hard fought round.
