Andover Colts 46 – Farnborough Colts 15

After a two week break Basepoint Business Centre sponsored Andover Colts started the New Year with a league fixture against Farnborough.  The home side lacked the polish and cohesion they exhibited in their previous game against Wootton Bassett but proved too strong for a spirited Farnborough side.  Andover wasted several opportunities with some sloppy play before Ioan Gwynne- Davies put points on the board with a penalty. When the ball did eventually get down the line Nick Baughen bundled his way over to score. Sam Sears won the race to the ball to score the second try following a deft kick through and Gabe Williams added a third to put the home side in a comfortable position at the break.

Andover extended their lead in the second period when Nick Baughen accepted a late Christmas present, scooping up the loose ball by the line to score his second try which was duly converted by Gwynne–Davies.  Jack Cooper added to the try tally collecting the ball on the 22 and then broke through several tackles to score, Harrison Pape added the extras.  With a substantial squad Andover made some changes and Farnborough enjoyed a period of possession scoring their first try.  Elliott Knights then restored the margin for Andover with a try which was duly converted.  Farnborough however were back for more and added two tries in quick succession before Callum Smith decided enough was enough and opened up the visitors defence to set up a score for John Hair.

Andover extend their unbeaten run with a business like performance but it was not their most dynamic of the season.
