Wootton Bassett Colts 5 - Andover Colts 42

Andover put in a fine team effort to romp to a pre Christmas victory in a friendly fixture against Wootton Bassett Colts. Basepoint Business Centre Sponsored Andover had to defend well in the early stages but showed glimpses of what was to come with some quick passing moves and sharp acceleration from Ioan Gwynne-Davies and Julian De La Cruz. As the visitors eased into the game and gained more territory the deadlock was eventually broken by Charlie Deavall who crashed over following a tap penalty 5m out. With the conversion from Ioan Gwynne-Davies Andover took a seven point lead into the break.

More points were soon to follow as Deavall crossed again shortly after the restart to double the lead. Andover built on the foundations of the first half, were more disciplined, cohesive and demonstrated brute force when required to keep the home side on the back foot. Gwynne Davies added the third try following a strong run from Jack Potter and then Potter added the fourth following a clever kick through. The extras were added by Harrison Pape. Fin Waite scored the fifth try crashing over from a 5m penalty. Wootton Bassett were eventually rewarded for their endeavours scoring a try in the corner.

In the last play Ben Reed celebrated his 18th birthday in style scoring a try and adding the conversion to round off an impressive team display from the Andover Colts.
