Ellingham & Ringwood Colts 10 - Andover Colts 39

With the bonus point secured in the first half Basepoint Business Centres sponsored Andover colts cruised to a comprehensive league victory against Ellingham and Ringwood. Andover opened the scoring with a Gwynne-Davies penalty. The first of the bonus point tries came from a movement down the line for Julian Dela Cruz  to score in the corner. A further training ground move enabled Charlie Deavall to score and Ioan Gwynne-Davies added the extras.  Callum Farr bundled over for the third try but Ringwood scored a try to open their account. Fed the ball five metres out, Callum Smith charged over and somehow managed to ground the ball to secure the Andover bonus point just before half time. Joe Joy added the conversion to take the visitors lead to 22 points at the break.

With a big squad Andover's coaching team rotated players through the second period but with the bonus point secured some of the focus and intensity was lost.  Andover stretched their lead with Finlay Waite seizing an opportunity to score. Callum Smith, fired up by scoring, spent ten minutes on the reflection bench for retaliation. A fine hand off from JJ Thomas enabled him to create the space to crash over for the sixth try.  All credit to the home side, they did not have the resources to rotate their squad but kept pushing and were rewarded with a second try just before the final whistle.

This was not the best performance from Andover and in the mode of Eddie Jones, the Andover coaching team were content with the victory but felt there was more to come.
