ANDOVER COLTS 22 FORDINGBRIDGE COLTS 19
Graham & Co sponsored Andover colts arrived at the Goodship ground with only one outcome in mind, a win, however with a strong Fordingbridge side in the way ,nothing short of a team performance would do.
With a strong starting 15 and no weakness on the bench Andover made a good start. However this was matched by a well drilled and controlled Fordingbridge who took the lead with two tries and a conversion..
Coach Ross reshuffled his pack to inject a little more attack and with some very good tactical play by the captain Ashley Gait , Sam Earle crashed over for a try from a forwards set piece move with a conversion from Elliot Copestake.
Fordingbridge came back strongly but lost their scrum half to a back injury. After some impressive defending from Andover and the two teams exchanged blows but good pressure from Andover resulted in a wing like attacking run from second row player Luke Linssner who went over the white wash in the corner to level the scores.
After some half time changes the game got under way with the same excited energy and focus from both sides. Fordingbridge were first to score with a converted try and Andover could only reply with five points from an Elliot Copestake try. This made the next few phases of play really tight, both teams working hard at every scrum, lineout or ruck
Andover were the first to mix it up. With time ticking away and Fordingbridge trying to defend a slim lead the Andover pairing of Fabian Kid at 9 and Taro Rowe at 10 really turned up the heat and pushed Andover meter by meter to the try line, with the pack allowing fast ball from a solid platform a score had to come. With the final whistle due a Jack Williams attack from deep and in a massive tackle had his shoulder dislocated, bringing David Ball back into the game from the bench.
Final play of the game and Andover were awarded a kickable penalty, the captain opted to take a tap, with a strong carry from Josh Robinson , the ball was recycled by the forwards then very fast hands from the backs to the opposite wing meant David Ball was able to crash his way over the line giving Andover the win on the final whistle.
Try; Sam Earle, Luke Linssner, Elliot Copestake, David Ball
