Our Academy staff are fully dedicated to these principles, everyone from the age group coaches and managers through to the chairman and committee members work together to bring the youth players through to the adult teams.

Pants in the Park 2010

On the 20 June around 20 - 30 young players and parents from Andover RFC pulled their pants on ‘super hero’ style and joined together with other local people for the third ‘Pants in the Park’ 5k fun run.

The annual event, organised in partnership with Simplyhealth, for Prostate UK, encourages people to come together to raise funds and generate awareness for Prostate UK, the only charity working to fight all prostate diseases.

This year’s event boasted another good attendance, with over 200 men, women and children descending on Charlton Athletic track on the outskirts of the town in their wacky, weird and wonderful pants including a team from Andover RFC.  Amanda McLean, Chief Executive, Prostate UK says; “The turn out at the Andover event was phenomenal, it was a fun-filled family day, which raised vital funds for the charity. One in two men will suffer from prostate disease at some stage in their lives and this is one of the many ways we try and raise funds and awareness to stop prostate disease ruining lives in the UK.

Andover Celebrates England Player

Andover RFU Youth Academy celebrated the selection of one of its players; Alex Bradley who this season was selected to play for the England U16’s National team.

Alex’s first rugby experience was when he was 11 years old and started playing at Bishop Wordsworth’s School in Salisbury. When he was 13, he joined the Youth Academy at Andover Rugby Club where he enjoyed three seasons of playing club rugby, although this past season has seen him playing less rugby at Andover due to first team commitments at school as well as the various rugby camps that he has attended as part of the ongoing England selection process.
